With last week’s post I talked about how progression happens in reality, not only in the mind. Real progress is defined by tangible results.
Progress is also closely aligned with achievement, yet they are not the same. Achievement is simply the external reward or recognition for actual progress.
Today I want to leave you with some thought provoking quotes on progress. Next week we will talk about how exactly we can all have more progress in our lives…
“The great thing in the world is not so much where we stand, as in what direction we are moving.” – Oliver Wendell Holmes
“Discontent is the first step in the progress of a man or nation.” – Oscar Wilde
“We all want progress, but if you’re on the wrong road, progress means doing an about-turn and walking back to the right road; the man who turns back soonest is the most progressive.” – C.S. Lewis
“The reasonable man adapts to the world, the unreasonable man persists in trying to adapt the world to himself. Therefore, all progress in the world depends on theĀ unreasonableĀ man.” – George Bernard Shaw
“Human progress is neither automatic or inevitable… Every step toward the goal of justice requires sacrifice, suffering, and struggle; the tireless exertions and passionate concern of dedicated individuals.” – Martin Luther King, Jr.

By reading those quotes, it just goes to show even further in my opinion, that we as individuals will define progress, in different ways. Progress to some, may not be progress to another, etc. I definitely dig Oliver’s quote the best!
Till then,
Jean
